Psoriasis and Eczema
Psoriasis and eczema are both chronic, inflammatory skin conditions.
Psoriasis - 2% of the populations have psoriasis. In most people it is only mild and may affect their scalp or elbows and knees, and regular application of medicated creams and moisturisers will help to keep the condition under control. A small percentage of patients have much more widespread psoriasis who may require more intensive treatment.
Eczema - is extremely common in children. Up to 20% of children under the age of 5 will be affected by eczema. The majority of children will grow out of their eczema, but they may still find they have sensitive skin even as adults. Eczema can fluctuate with the change in seasons and temperature, sweating and varying stress levels.
